Hazardous Waste Collection at College
The Los Angeles County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program will be at Valley College beginning Thursday to accept such materials as paint, oil, garden chemicals and pool cleaners that might otherwise end up in storm drains.
The Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation will collect household waste from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in parking lot B of the college, 5800 Fulton Ave.
Materials to be collected include paint products and solvents, oil and antifreeze, aerosol products, household chemicals, garden pesticides and fertilizers, car batteries and pool cleaners.
The collection vehicles will not accept ammunition, explosives, radioactive materials, biological waste or tires.
Organizers also note that it is illegal to haul more than 15 gallons, or 125 pounds, of household chemicals to a site.
Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling (800) 988-6942.
