Christian Coalition Head Plans Local Visit
The new executive director of the Christian Coalition will take a swing through Simi Valley tonight, stopping at a local chapter meeting at the Sonrise Christian Fellowship.
Christian Coalition Executive Director Randy Tate, who replaces the charismatic Ralph Reed at the head of the grass-roots nonprofit group, is on a three-day visit to Southern California and will stop at several Christian Coalition chapter meetings, said Sara DiVito Hardman, the group’s state chairwoman.
A former Republican congressman from Puyallup, Wash., Tate has big shoes to fill--predecessor Reed saw the Christian Coalition grow to become a powerful player in local and national politics.
“He’s new to the coalition and he wants to meet as many people as he can,†Hardman said Monday.
The Christian Coalition of East Ventura County is a “lively, exciting chapter†that Hardman said she wanted Tate to meet. He is also attending chapter meetings in Palm Desert and Orange County while in California.
The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Sonrise Christian Fellowship, 2350 Shasta Way.
