Spotlight: Odwalla’s Insurer to Pay Bills of Sickened Boy
Odwalla Inc.’s insurance company has agreed to pay the medical bills of 3-year-old Michael Beverly of Seattle, who suffered severe kidney damage after drinking unpasteurized apple juice. The insurer will pay $50,000 to reimburse Michael’s insurer. Half Moon Bay-based Odwalla had pledged to cover the medical costs of 66 people who contracted E. coli bacteria infections during a recent outbreak that killed one. The Beverly case is the sixth of nine lawsuits to be settled.
