Litton Gets Deal to Build Offshore Supply Vessels
Litton Industries said it reached agreement to build as many as 14 additional deep-water offshore supply vessels to be used to service oil and gas drilling platforms.
The deal was made with Edison Chouest Offshore, a Louisiana concern that is in the commercial ship chartering business.
The deal calls for Litton’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division to build seven deep-water vessels, plus an option for seven more.
Previously, Ingalls and Edison Chouest reached a deal to build up to 17 larger supply vessels. Now the total value of the two programs for Ingalls could reach $120 million, Litton said.
Litton, headquartered in Woodland Hills, is a major defense contractor.
