Alliance Will Close Warehouse, Fire 150

Alliance Entertainment Corp. said it will fire 150 workers in California as part of the company’s move to Coral Springs, Fla. Alliance, which sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in July because of high debt and weak sales, said the firings will result from its closure of a Santa Fe Springs warehouse by Jan. 17. The company, formerly based in New York, said it will transfer those operations to Coral Springs by Feb. 28. The wholesale distributor of recorded music has been trying to trim costs so it can exit bankruptcy proceedings. It sold Red Ant Entertainment in August and plans to shut its Independent National Distributors Inc. next year.
