Driver Rescued After Car Skids Under Truck
OXNARD — A Camarillo man escaped serious injury Monday night, when his sports car crashed into a tractor-trailer and came to rest under the truck’s back wheels.
The 74-year-old man, whom authorities did not identify, was driving east in the 900 block of 5th Street in Oxnard at 8:30 p.m., Oxnard firefighters said. His low-slung Datsun 280-Z skidded about 40 feet and slipped under the truck, which was making a left turn onto 5th Street from Diaz Avenue, authorities said.
Firefighters were able to help the man out of his vehicle and into an ambulance, authorities said. He was taken to St. Johns Regional Medical Center with what rescuers called minor injuries.
The cause of the accident is being investigated, police said.
