Braves Remain Unbeaten
Erick Reyes scored in each half and Adonay Jovel added a second-half goal to help Birmingham High defeat Wilson, 3-1, Friday in pool play of the Birmingham boys’ soccer tournament.
The Braves (8-0), three-time defending Northwest Valley Conference champions, play Valley Pac-8 member Grant in a tournament game Monday at 1 p.m. at Birmingham.
In other games Monday, Wilson plays Monroe at 9 a.m. and San Fernando meets Lincoln at 11 a.m.
In another Birmingham tournament game:
Monroe 2, Lincoln 0--Juan Cervantes gave the Vikings (5-2-1) a 1-0 halftime lead when he scored off a pass from Hugo Videla.
Emanuel Lopez scored the second goal on a penalty shot.
GIRLS
Royal 1, Don Lugo 1--Jeanette Basil scored in the 14th minute off a pass from Katie Lyons to give the Highlanders (5-4-1) a 1-0 lead in pool play of the Upland tournament.
Dustine Murphy scored in the 23rd minute for Don Lugo.
Royal 3, Beaumont 1--Second-half goals by Camille Butcher and Katy Flood lifted the Highlanders (6-4-1) in the Upland tournament.
Jennie Myszkowski scored for Royal in the first half.
Royal continues pool play against Sonora at 10:15 a.m. today.
