Anaheim officials recently accepted $264,937 from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee to install public access electric vehicles charging stations in Orange County.
The City Council accepted the money as part of a $500,000 project to develop the Electric Vehicle Quick Charge Program in various cities.
Anaheim is the lead agency for the program, which will include a network of 25 charging stations at malls, businesses, entertainment centers, public buildings, libraries and beaches.
Supporters of the program have said it will encourage people to drive electric cars, helping to reduce air pollution.
