New Curfew
For the early-to-bed set near Van Nuys Airport, the rumble of big jet engines will no longer disturb their slumber after 10 p.m. On Friday, the Los Angeles City Council approved extending the nighttime ban on noisy planes by an hour, moving the curfew from 11 p.m. to 10 p.m. The new curfew will go into effect in about a month--a decade after it was first proposed.
