Morgan Stars for Knights

Notre Dame High soccer forward Sarah Morgan was at it again Tuesday, scoring three goals in the Knights’ 5-0, nonleague defeat of Highland at Notre Dame.
Morgan, who has scored six goals this season and 47 during the past three seasons, did all her damage Tuesday in the first 25 minutes. The senior was the Mission League’s offensive player of the year and a member of The Times’ all-region team last season.
Melissa Rubey and Lacey Nickerson also scored for Notre Dame (4-0-2). Highland is 1-1-2.

Buena 2, Hueneme 2--Melissa Sanchez’s goal with eight minutes to play allowed the Bulldogs (2-1-2), winners of four consecutive and five of the past seven Channel League titles, to salvage a league opener with the host Vikings, traditionally the conference’s doormat.
Flintridge Sacred Heart 2, Crescenta Valley 2--Lauren Johnson and Jessica Reyes scored for the Tologs (1-3-1) in a nonleague game at Crescenta Valley.
St. Bonaventure 7, Santa Clara 0--Erin Croasman and Jessica Griffith each scored twice for the Seraphs (5-0) in a nonleague game at St. Bonaventure.
Calabasas 3, L.A. Baptist 0--Brooke Niles scored two goals and Katy Young added another for the Coyotes (3-2-1) in a nonleague game at Calabasas.
La Canada 3, Maranatha 1--Dusty Martin and Brittny Zimmerman scored first-half goals for the Spartans (4-0) in a nonleague game at Maranatha.
Hart 2, Harvard-Westlake 0--Allie Pavoni and Dee Sanguinetti each scored for the Indians (4-1-1) in a nonleague game at Harvard-Westlake.
Ventura 6, Oxnard 2--Erin Specht, Lisa Engel and Kitty Sexton each scored two goals for the Cougars (3-3, 1-0) in a Channel League opener at home.
Alicia Garcia scored twice for the Yellowjackets.
Quartz Hill 3, Alemany 0--Shauna Murray and Julie Gold each had a goal and an assist for the Rebels (3-1-1) in a nonleague game at Quartz Hill.
Hoover 3, Pasadena Marshall 0--Valerie Samore scored twice for the Tornadoes (2-1) in a nonleague game at Glendale.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Buena 6, Hueneme 0--Mike Bradbury and Chad Sautter each scored twice for the Bulldogs (5-1, 1-0) in a Channel League opener at Buena.
Dos Pueblos 3, Rio Mesa 2--David Cervantes scored twice in the second half for the Spartans (4-1) in a Channel League opener at Dos Pueblos (2-3).
Antelope Valley 2, Hart 2--Jesus Medrano scored twice for the Antelopes (1-1-1) in a nonleague game at Hart.
Highland 2, Village Christian 1--Jonathan Livingston scored late in the first half to break a 1-1 tie for the Bulldogs (3-2-1) in the first round of the La Canada tournament.
Burroughs 2, South Pasadena 2--Leo Plascencia and Gary Guenther scored first-half goals for the Indians (3-1-3) in a nonleague game at South Pasadena.
Fillmore 4, Vasquez 2--Francisco Zavala scored the tying and go-ahead goals for the Flashes (2-2-2) in the second half of a nonleague game at Vasquez (1-4). Zavala also had an assist on Everardo Magana’s first-half goal. The Mustangs led, 2-1, at halftime.
Littlerock 4, Paraclete 2--Pat Hauge and Jeremy Brown scored for the Spirits (1-3-1) in a nonleague loss at Littlerock.
Harvard-Westlake 1, Bosco Tech 0--Danny Sable scored with less than three minutes left for the Wolverines (5-2) in a nonleague victory at Bosco Tech.
GIRLS’ WATER POLO
La Canada 13, Glendale 4--Coral Cozad scored five goals and Becky Johan added four for the Spartans (7-2) in a nonleague game.
Allison Speer scored twice for the Dynamiters (5-3).
Harvard-Westlake 8, Crescenta Valley 3--Jeanine Jackson scored four goals and Stephanie Dashiell scored three for the host Wolverines (2-0) in a nonleague game.
