My Best Shot

Earlier this year, Jeff Inglish, 60, was shuttling between his Irvine home and Reno, where he was scouting out billiard halls to buy. He wound up opening a tavern in Huntington Beach instead, but he didn’t come back entirely empty-handed. Along the way, he pulled off the road and snapped this scene of a serene Mono Lake, reflecting cumulus clouds in the late afternoon sky. It was one of the last shots taken with his 12-year-old camera, which gave out soon after.
