Moschetti Leads Mt. SAC
Quarterback Mike Moschetti wasn’t on the field when his Mt. San Antonio teammates began celebrating their 38-35 victory over San Francisco in the community college state championship game in front of 3,351 at Cal State Fullerton.
Instead, Moschetti sat on the bench talking with trainers, trying to recover enough to walk 20 yards to get into the team picture.
Moschetti had given his all, including taking a legal but painful hit while getting the first down that allowed the Mounties to run out the clock and finish the season 12-0 and the top-ranked team in the nation.
San Francisco (No. 2, 11-1) seemed on its way to moving to the top spot after opening a 28-17 lead at the end of the third quarter. But Mt. San Antonio stormed back, thanks to three San Francisco turnovers, and took a 38-28 lead with 4:08 left. San Francisco rallied to score again, but Mt. San Antonio and Moschetti ran out the clock.
