Cal Lutheran Gets $100,000 Hearst Grant

Cal Lutheran University received a $100,000 grant from William Randolph Hearst Foundation to establish an endowed scholarship int he name of the late publishing tycoon. The scholarship will go to CLU students who are academically and financially qualified. The initial award will be made for the 1998-99 acadmeic year.
Hispanic Fund Gives $1,200 to Literacy Group
Ventura County Community Foundation’s Destino 2000. The Hispanic Legacy Fund, awarded Family Literacy: Aid in Reading (FLAIR), a $1,200 grant. The money will be used for the fund’s Computer Interactive English Language Project.
Advocates for Elderly Receive $5,000
The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program of Ventura County received a $5,000 grant from the Wood-Claeyssens Foundation. Ombudsman volunteers act as advocates for the elderly in the 117 long-term care facilities in the county.
