AlliedSignal Inc. said it will buy two Banner Aerospace Inc. units that distribute aerospace products for about $345 million in common stock to expand its aerospace products business. . . . Quaker State Corp. said it will close plants, cut an unspecified number of jobs and consolidate some brands of its car-care products in order to save $15 million to $20 million a year, as it forecast fourth-quarter and full-year earnings below expectations. . . . Woolworth Corp. said it sold its 27-store Mexican unit to closely held Control Dinamico for an undisclosed price, completing its exit from its traditional F.W. Woolworth dime-store format in North America. . . . General Motors Corp. is cutting first-quarter North American vehicle production by 2.2% from the year-earlier period, to 1,411,000 vehicles, with output of trucks rising and cars falling. . . . Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said it will shift production of power transmission products to northern Mexico in an effort to cut costs, a move that will eliminate about 150 jobs at the Lincoln, Neb., plant that now makes the products. Akron, Ohio-based Goodyear said it will invest $15 million to build a transmission-products plant at an undetermined site in Mexico. . . . Coca-Cola Co.’s profit from Europe and the Far East will be reduced by a strong U.S. dollar in the fourth quarter and 1998, partly the result of economic turmoil in Japan, analysts said.
