Winifred ‘Polly’ Klee; Retired Social Worker

Retired social worker Winifred Bernice “Polly” Klee died Saturday at her Camarillo home after a long battle with cancer. She was 78.

She was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Dorchester, Mass. While attending the University of Maryland, she married her classmate, William Klee.

Klee was a Red Cross worker at a military hospital near Cambridge, England, during World War II.

For many years she was a social worker for Ventura County, retiring in 1981. Upon her retirement, Klee became active as a volunteer with patients at Camarillo State Hospital through the Legion of Mary of St. Mary Magdalen Parish.

Family members said Klee loved to travel and had visited 26 countries during her lifetime.

In addition to her husband of 47 years, Klee is survived by a daughter, Diane Glasmann of Pomfret Center, Conn.; a son, Alan Klee of Fair Oaks, Calif.; three granddaughters; one grandson; a brother, Thomas Quinn of La Mesa; and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing and rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Mary Magdalen Chapel, Camarillo.

A funeral Mass will be said at 2 p.m. Saturday at Padre Serra Church, Camarillo. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Hospice of Camarillo.
