Sister City Status OKd With South Korea Partner

Carson and Wan-ju Gun, South Korea, are going to become sister cities in a program that city officials say will expose residents to the Korean culture and its customs. The City Council recently approved the partnership set to begin with a ceremony in October.
Carson already has a sister city relationship with Soka, Japan, and is seeking to expand its program. As part of the partnership with Soka, several students have participated in exchange programs, and Carson has mounted several exhibits of Japanese art.
“After all the exchanges we’ve done, you feel like you have family in these cities,” said Carol Ann Mori, a fine arts commissioner who has worked on the Soka program. “What you get from this kind of program is that beneath all the customs we all have the same concerns about family, people and children.”
