JetHawks Make Grade Against A’s
MODESTO — The Lancaster JetHawks inched closer to a spot in the California League playoffs with a 6-2 victory over the Modesto A’s on Tuesday night at John Thurmond Field.
Left-hander Damaso Marte (8-7) struck out eight batters in six innings for Lancaster. He gave up four hits and five walks and two runs, both unearned. Danny Bonilla picked up his sixth save.
Jason Regan had a triple and a double for the JetHawks.
Lancaster (40-25) increased its lead over the A’s (38-27) for the Valley Division wild-card spot to two games with five to play.
The JetHawks pulled to within two games of division-leader High Desert (42-23), which lost, 8-7, to Visalia on Tuesday night.
High Desert won the first-half season title to qualify for the playoffs.
The JetHawks play two more games against Modesto before ending the season with a three-game series at San Jose this weekend.
