Golf at Pierce Farm? Seeking to offset a budget deficit that has grown in recent days to $4.8 million, a divided Pierce College Council voted Tuesday to revive plans to build a golf driving range on 11 acres of the school’s farm. Previous studies have said such a range--which farm supporters fear could be the beginning of the end of agriculture programs at Pierce--would bring in about $150,000 a year.
