Truck Flips; Driver Suspected of DUI
A Southern California Edison employee whose truck rolled over in Matilija Canyon on Tuesday afternoon was suspected of drunk driving, according to the California Highway Patrol.
John Bischof, 42, of Oak View was driving south on Matilija Road at 2 p.m. about four miles from the Maricopa Highway when he lost control of his truck. He was on duty at the time of the crash.
CHP officers said Bischof, who was taken by ambulance to the emergency room of Ojai Valley Community Hospital, failed a field sobriety test. He was listed in good condition at the hospital.
CHP officials said they will suggest the district attorney’s office file drunk driving charges against Bischof.
