4 People Hurt as Runaway Tour Bus Crashes Into Cars
A runaway tour bus hit several cars Tuesday evening, injuring four motorists who were in the vehicle’s path, authorities said.
The charter bus, believed to be returning from a trip to Las Vegas, lost its brakes while headed south on North Montebello Boulevard near Lincoln Avenue, Montebello Police Lt. Joe Juiliano said.
The bus, loaded with senior citizens, rolled for about a mile, hitting several cars, before the driver turned right on Whittier Boulevard and brought it to a stop near 12th Street about 8:45 p.m., he said.
Four people, all in cars, suffered injuries. One was treated at the scene and released, and three people were taken to nearby Beverly Hospital, authorities said. The extent of their injuries was not known late Tuesday.
