Heisman Winner in the Hall

White, USC’s Heisman Trophy winner in 1979, and former UCLA coach Red Sanders were among those inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame at South Bend, Ind.

Joining them was Jerry Robinson, a linebacker at UCLA and the first Bruin to win consensus All-American honors three consecutive years (1976-78).

Miami Hurricane senior receiver Jammi German, still under scrutiny for a limousine ride he took with two teammates in November 1995, has been declared ineligible by the university because of possible ethical misconduct during the investigation. . . . Standout wide receiver David Saunders suffered a serious knee injury in West Virginia’s final two-a-day practice, and Coach Don Nehlen said doctors told him Saunders probably tore a ligament.
