4 CLU Students to Receive $1,000 Scholarships
Four Cal Lutheran University students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Community Leaders Club during a Sept. 4 ceremony. The award recognizes the students’ dedication to community service and academic achievement. The winners are Nina Puente of Newbury Park, Jordana Segal of Simi Valley, Brad Bjelke of Santa Clarita and Juan Santos of Bakersfield.
Children’s Services Receives $1,500 Donation * Children’s Services Auxiliary received a $1,500 donation from The Newcomers Club of Ventura, a philanthropic organization. The money will be used to support the auxiliary programs that benefit needy children.
Camarillo Teacher Wins State Award * Carole Firestone of Camarillo received California State Teacher of the Year honors for 1997. Firestone teaches gifted sixth- and seventh-grade language arts and social science classes at Lindero Canyon Middle School in Agoura Hills.
