2 Dead, 2 Wounded After Long Standoff at Home
COVINGTON, Tenn. — A man with a history of mental problems opened fire with a shotgun through the windows of his home Thursday, killing one police officer and wounding a second officer and a woman walking a dog, authorities said.
After a 12-hour standoff, he was found dead when officers stormed the house.
Police fired no bullets but did fire tear gas into the house when the gunman, Brad Morrison, broke off telephone communication more than 90 minutes before he was found dead.
Authorities didn’t know if Morrison killed himself or asphyxiated on the tear gas. An autopsy was scheduled.
