Water Money: William Mulholland on the back of a quarter? Maybe, if columnist George F. Will’s idea is adopted. In response to a proposal to mint quarters commemorating the 50 states, Will suggested that “the man who brought water to Southern California” replace the American eagle on this state’s coin. Good idea, says granddaughter Catherine Mulholland, above. She thinks criticism of Mulholland has always been “a terrible distortion of history” and adds: “This is like a refreshing drink of water in the desert.”
