Four Suspected Gang Members Held in Violent Crime Spree
Four alleged members of a Koreatown-based gang suspected in a spree of rapes, robberies and burglaries last year were arrested in early morning raids Friday, police said.
The men are suspected of robbing five people at gunpoint in various parts of Los Angeles and raping four prostitutes in motels around Koreatown between September and December last year, police said.
Other victims have been too scared to help police, said LAPD Det. Maureen Ryan Correa, who is leading the investigation.
“The suspects threatened their lives and their families, and knew where they lived, and [some victims] were just too terrified to make a police report,” she said.
Police identified the arrested men as Hyun Gu “Eddie” Kang, 27, of Los Angeles; Thomas Shin, 23, of Los Angeles; Sang Kon “Moses” Kim, 22, of Van Nuys; and Yeo Won “Peter” Yun, 19, of Los Angeles. Three other suspects were already in custody.
