Suspects Sought in Arson Fire at House
Arsonists sparked a fire that destroyed a two-story home at 2117 Bromfield St. in Simi Valley, Ventura County fire investigators have determined.
Without releasing other details, investigators asked for the public’s help in identifying the arsonists.
In a prepared release distributed Friday, investigators asked “anyone who may have seen juveniles in or around that area in the early morning hours of Wednesday” to call either Fire Department investigators at 388-4276 or Simi Valley Police Department Det. Gene Hostetler at 583-6969.
The blaze occurred while owners John and Velvalee Reid were on vacation in Utah. While no one was hurt in the 4:40 a.m. fire, it did cause $210,000 in damage. Firefighters knocked the fire down within an hour and saved a caged pet rabbit.
