Jerry’s Deli to Open in O.C. With a Benefit
Jerry’s Famous Deli, an institution in Los Angeles-area dining with a 700-item menu, will open its first Orange County location Monday near South Coast Plaza with a benefit for Children’s Hospital Foundation.
More than 1,000 guests from Orange County government, businesses and charities will attend the invitation-only dinner from 5 to 10 p.m.
The restaurant will open to the public Tuesday.
The 9,400-square-foot eatery sports a New York theme.
The chain is perhaps best known for a seemingly endless menu featuring everything from bagels and lox to Hawaiian-style pizza and chicken tacos.
The main fare is sandwiches, burgers, breakfast food, soups and salad.
This is the first Jerry’s Famous Deli to open outside of Los Angeles County, said David Novak, a spokesman for the Studio City-based chain.
Existing locations include West Hollywood, Marina del Ray, Pasadena and Westwood.
The chain also operates Solley’s Delicatessens.
Novak said the new deli will seek to attract patrons from throughout Orange County, relying heavily on South Coast Plaza and Orange County Performing Arts Center traffic.
Still, he considers it a “destination restaurant.”
The Costa Mesa restaurant, 3210 Park Center Drive, is the 10th store in the company chain.
Hours are 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 24 hours on weekends.
