Leadership Program Taking Applications
Experienced and would-be leaders can polish their skills and get a behind-the-scenes look at the city during the nine-month Leadership Simi Valley program.
Applications for the program, created by the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce and community leaders in 1988, are being accepted until Aug. 20.
The intensive program, open to a broad base of participants from all sectors of the community, acquaints participants with key issues facing Simi Valley. It also offers valuable leadership skills.
In the program’s first month, participants attend a two-day retreat exploring the concept of leadership. On the first Friday of each subsequent month, participants will have full-day sessions that will include focus on federal, state and local government, business and economic development, law enforcement, media, education, health and human services, quality of life, the arts and ethics.
The program costs $600, $100 of which must come from the individual participants. The remaining $500 may come from the participant’s employer. For information, call the chamber’s Dolores Krier at 526-3900.
