Constituents’ Concerns a Priority

* Last Sunday you published a letter to the editor by Barbara A. Warkentien of Thousand Oaks, entitled, “A Lone Voice Against Wright.” In her letter she stated that in my response to your reporter Nancy Hill-Holtzman that I had not received any criticism pertaining to my vote on the issue of welfare reform. I stand by that statement. Unfortunately, Warkentien called me several days after the interview.

My policy with my constituents over the past 15 years has been to be honest, never lie and never make promises you do not intend to keep. I am proud of that achievement, as well as the “open door” policy that I have with my constituents.

In addition, whenever possible, I will return phone calls as I did with Warkentien and meet with any of my constituents at our earliest convenience.

Sometimes we may agree and sometimes we may not. The bottom line is that any of the constituents I represent in this district or the state can call upon me or my staff to share with us any concerns they may have pertaining to any state-related issue.
