Ventura Will Miss Councilman Bennett
* Many of us are sorry to see Steve Bennett’s announcement that he is not running for a second term on the City Council. That man can make things happen!
He built a variety of coalitions for the various issues he championed. They each touched a different slice of our community, including education, campaign reform, growth control and the expansion of the mall. I remember watching him coax extra funds from the council for the Rainbow Bridge project many years ago. This was the kind of quality of life issue that is not obvious when the debate is only over growth.
Our city will miss his leadership.
