Richard C. “Dick” Bennett, a longtime Moorpark College maintenance foreman and military man, died Friday at home after a long illness. He was 78.
Bennett was born Sept. 1, 1919, in East Moline, Ill., and moved to Ventura was he was 2 years old. He retired in 1986 after 20 years of work at Moorpark College. Before that, Bennett had served in the Army and Navy before and during World War II.
He also was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Ventura.
Bennett is survived by two sons, Gregory of Ventura and Steven of Ojai; a brother, Earl, of Ventura, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tabitha.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, which is handling arrangements.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura with the Rev. Tony Cervero of the First Assembly of God Church officiating.
