* I have served for over 15 years as a community member on the President’s Advisory Board at Cal State Northridge and can attest to the high quality of leadership enjoyed under both former President James Cleary and current President Blenda J. Wilson.

Current controversies over cutbacks in men’s athletic programs and the news that Wilson is a candidate for the presidency of another university should not distract from the importance of the university itself. Change and controversy will always mark a vital institution, and what must be remembered is the great benefit this university affords our Valley.

In part because of the efforts of its president, administrators and distinguished faculty, that university at Northridge provides a rich cultural resource to families, business and community organizations, and above all, our students.
