Crows Mural

Re “Crow Mural Raises a Flap,” Aug. 3.

The Corvidae (ravens, crows, magpies and jays) all display many characteristics highly regarded in humans: great intelligence and problem solving, sociability, adaptability, use of complex communication, etc.

Some animals are literally “bottom feeders”; none are “sinister” (except maybe humans).

Just possibly crows and ravens are disliked by a few people who are envious of the crows’ superior intelligence.

The mural at Lassen Street and all the other underpass murals are a beautiful addition to our Valley.

As a middle-age guy who grew up in Valley and has lived here his whole life, I find [Terry] Knutson far more alarming than any crow mural. I rode through those tunnels on my trusty Schwinn 10-speed well over 30 years ago. They were disgusting then--graffiti is not such a new concept.

Young people who are trying to better their surroundings are criticized? I admire the effort to improve the tunnels. The theme really seems to be sort of irrelevant to me. The effort should be applauded.

Hang tough, [Michelle] Obregon. My lord, a teacher who motivates her students. We must remove her immediately.
