Golf Course Lawsuit
* Re “Claim Filed Against City Over Rejected Golf Links,” Aug. 1. In America, everyone has the right to petition government to redress grievances. This lawsuit says that not only do labor union members (Hotel Employees Local 11) have no right of petition, but that their petition taints or invalidates the decision of a legislative body. This lawsuit insults the entire City Council with its claim that the reasons for the actions of a legislative body--the people of Los Angeles--can be determined by private interest, such as Foothill Golf Development. I can’t read the minds of the City Council; neither can Foothill Golf.
