ANAHEIM — An Anaheim man was shot and wounded on a downtown street in what police on Saturday called a possible gang-related shooting.
Joseph Gomez, 18, was walking down the 800 block of South Philadelphia Avenue about 11:17 p.m. Friday when several suspects in a car stopped to talk with him, Anaheim police reported in a news release.
Seconds after the conversation began, someone in the vehicle fired several shots, hitting Gomez in the head and abdomen, police said.
Gomez was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where police said he was listed in stable condition. A hospital official declined to comment Saturday evening.
Police said the suspects fled after the shooting and are still at large.
