Nations Powers Grays Harbor Past Vigilantes
Joel Nations had four runs batted in to lead Grays Harbor past the Vigilantes, 6-2, Friday, at Olympic Stadium in Hoquiam, Wash.
After Mike Rendina hit his 19th home run, a two-run shot, in the bottom of the first for the Gulls (13-10), Grays Harbor broke it open when Nations hit a three-run double in the bottom of the sixth to make it, 5-1.
Although Sam Taylor hit two home runs for the Vigilantes (11-12), his teammates managed only four singles against winning pitcher Wayne Hoy (4-5). Hoy gave up six hits, walked two and struck out four.
Also Friday, the Vigilantes acquired infielder Pat O’Connor from the Gulls for two players to be determined. O’Connor is hitting .266 with 18 RBIs this season.
Dan Ehler (1-8) is scheduled to start for the Vigilantes tonight and Rayon Reid (4-3) will pitch for the Gulls in the second game of the three-game series.
