Bond Strikes Out 14 for Lancaster
The Lancaster JetHawks got a dominating pitching performance from left-hander Jason Bond and routed the Visalia Oaks, 10-3, Friday night in a California League game at Recreation Park in Visalia.
A former reliever, Bond struck out 14, a JetHawk season high. He allowed an unearned run in seven innings, struck out the side three times and recorded 14 of 21 outs on strikeouts.
Bond (3-6) didn’t allow a hit through 5 2/3 innings and retired 13 of the last 14 batters he faced. Bond was replaced in the eighth by Javier Gutierrez.
The JetHawks (28-20) scored in the second, third and fifth innings to take a 3-1 lead. They extended the margin to 7-1 in the fifth, when Tarrik Brock’s two-run single off reliever Brian Kern capped a four-run uprising in which Lancaster batted around.
The JetHawks scored three runs off Jose Paulino in the eighth, highlighted by a two-run single by Josh Watts.
