2 Suspects Held in Car Burglary
Two Los Angeles men were arrested on suspicion of burglary and receiving stolen property after they allegedly broke into a parked car and took $1,200 in belongings.
Adolfo R. Delgado, 51, and Jorge C. Diaz, 45, were arrested Wednesday by state park rangers after they allegedly broke into a car and stole a bicycle, numerous compact discs and other items, according to Chris Jennings, a spokeswoman for the state parks service.
The victim, 22-year-old Timothy M. Pearson of Camarillo, had parked his car on the Pacific Coast Highway at Leo Carrillo State Beach and gone to the beach.
Pearson discovered the break-in when he returned to his car about noon. Along with several witnesses to the break-in, he flagged down state park Ranger Simon Cavazos, who was driving north on PCH, Jennings said.
Shortly after Cavazos put out a radio call, Rangers Finn McClafferty and Terry Brann pulled over a 1977 Dodge on Kanan Dume Road that fit witnesses’ descriptions and arrested the two suspects, Jennings said.
Delgado and Diaz were turned over to Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies at the Lost Hills station.
All the stolen items were recovered, Jennings said.
The incident marked the second time this year that state park rangers have arrested auto burglary suspects at Leo Carrillo State Beach.
The area is considered a popular location for burglars because beach lovers leave their cars for extended periods, authorities said.
