Garage a Meth Lab; Deputies Arrest 3
LA MIRADA — Deputies followed a strong chemical odor to a garage where they discovered a methamphetamine lab, seized several quarts of the drug in liquid form and arrested three men on drug charges, a Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said Friday.
Michael O’Rourke, 42, and David Vincent, 34, of La Mirada, and Harvey Gronwald, 25, of Garden Grove are being held at the Norwalk sheriff’s station in lieu of $500,000 bail each, deputies said.
The men were arrested at 10:30 p.m. Thursday in the 15000 block of Rosalita Drive after deputies received a call about suspicious activity, investigators said.
Deputies also seized drug manufacturing paraphernalia and scales from the garage, said the sheriff’s spokeswoman, Deputy Angie Prewett. In addition to the danger methamphetamine poses to users, Prewett said, methamphetamine labs use highly flammable chemicals, and explosions at these labs have killed a number of people in Southern California.
