Gunmen Kill 1 Man, Wound Another on Street
Two masked gunmen shot a 23-year-old man to death on a sidewalk early Friday and seriously wounded a man with him, police said.
Antonio Lopez, 23, of Pasadena, was declared dead at the scene, in the 2000 block of North Garfield Avenue. Police found him and Pedro Palafox lying on the sidewalk, Police Cmdr. Mary Schander said.
Palafox, 43, of Bell, was rushed by paramedics to Huntington Memorial Hospital, where he was in serious condition Friday evening with a gunshot wound in the back, police said.
Lopez died from gunshot wounds to the head and upper body, police said.
“This was not a random shooting,” Schander said. “The two victims were walking on the sidewalk when two males ran up and fired at them several times before running away westbound on Montana Street.”
