New Law Limits Truck Parking at Mall Lots
In move to stop big-rig trucks from parking at local shopping centers, the city will begin enforcing a new law that makes it illegal for the vehicles to park in such lots for more than three hours.
Beginning Aug. 20, the Sheriff’s Department will begin issuing warnings to truck drivers in violating the new law and will issue citations next month.
The City Council approved the ordinance last month after sheriff’s deputies reported a large number of truck drivers using the local shopping centers near the Pomona Freeway as a parking lot.
City development official Dan Chadwick said the law limits parking by vehicles over 10,000 pounds to three hours in certain areas.
