That SINKING Feeling

These sinks will bowl you over.

The Vessels collection by Kohler features lavatories that are adorned with materials not usually relegated to the bathroom.

Wrought iron, soft natural woods and spun glass are just a few of the out-of-the-ordinary elements that help these sinks make a distinctive statement. The look is available for decors from Santa Fe and Southwestern to Victorian, high-tech and contemporary.

The Vessels collection was introduced in 1996, but the new materials were added for 1997, to bring the basins some texture and variation.

The Turnings lavatory, for instance, made of spun glass, is balanced on the sides by cast-iron brackets. Adding to its striking silhouette is the Falling Water faucet in polished chrome. The basin’s lines are simple, but the swirls of iron soften the edges, make it inviting to touch.

The Turnings basin, which is 16 1/4 inches in diameter, is available in an array of colors, six textural glazes that have a satiny finish and three high-gloss glazes.

When dressing the walls of a home office, designer Paloma Picasso proves it’s as easy as learning your ABCs.

One of Picasso’s latest designs for the Classique collection, which is manufactured by Motif Designs, puts the emphasis on the alphabet.

The Ex Libris pattern was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s calligraphic version of the alphabet, which Picasso also uses on her designs for her scarves and handbags. The graphics on the wallpaper are bold with an element of sparkle.

Ex Libris also is offered in silver and gold on jewel tones of red, green or blue.

The wallpaper is $40 per roll. A roll, which is 5.4 yards, covers about 30 square feet. For the nearest retailer, call (800) 431-2424.
