City leaders will break ground today on a project to add lights at Lexington Junior High School’s sports field, a move that will allow youth soccer teams to practice at night.
The American Youth Soccer Organization will give $99,713 to the City Council for its share in funding the project at 4351 Orange Ave. The project also is being funded by the city and the Cypress Recreation and Park District.
The lighting will be placed in the southeast corner of the school’s track area. The project is expected to be completed later this month.
A groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. at the project site.
