SANTA ANA — A man was shot and killed by his longtime girlfriend in the parking lot of his apartment complex Sunday following a heated argument, police said.
Rogelio Romero Ochoa, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
The shooting occurred about 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot at 3126 S. Main St., said Bob Chavez, a spokesman for the Santa Ana Police Department. Ochoa was confronted by his girlfriend, Sandra Torres Garcia, 28, and, after a short argument, Garcia shot Ochoa several times then fled, Chavez said.
She was arrested a short time later at her residence on North Hesperian Street, where police recovered a .38 Special revolver, officials said. Garcia was taken to the Santa Ana Detention Facility and charged with murder.
Police say the investigation is continuing.
