Esplanade Mall to Get New Signs, Landscaping

Hoping to attract customers with a new look, representatives of The Esplanade mall have won approval to put in new neon signs and landscaping.
Oxnard planning commissioners voted 4 to 0 last week to allow the changes, which are scheduled to be completed by fall.
The plans call for new neon signs, pastel colors at two pedestrian entrances and palm trees at the west entrance and along the driveway leading to Pacific Coast Highway.
The red, yellow, purple and white signs will feature a new logo on which the “E” in Esplanade will be written in script, City Planner J. Anthony Perez said.
The changes will not affect the Sears and Robinsons-May buildings.
Both stores are scheduled to relocate to the Buenaventura Mall as part of a $100-million expansion at that center.
