Son Believes King Was Killed by U.S.

A son of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. said in a television interview that he believes his father’s murder was part of a conspiracy that involved government officials as high-ranking as President Lyndon B. Johnson. “Based on the evidence that I’ve been shown . . . I would think that it would be very difficult for something of that magnitude to occur on his watch and he not be privy to it,” Dexter King said in an interview with ABC’s “Turning Point.” King said he believes the government plotted his father’s 1968 murder, fearing the rights leader’s growing power and his opposition to the Vietnam War.
