Girl Killed
Re the 9-year-old killed in the McDonald’s holdup, June 17:
There is just no excuse for an off-duty policeman to confront a holdup man with a gun in a crowded restaurant. No amount of money that a holdup man could take from a fast-food restaurant is worth the possibility of killing an innocent patron. An off-duty policeman could just as easily have exited the restaurant and confronted the holdup man when he was away from the crowd. This was bad judgment and it’s about time that police departments teach their officers a bit of old-fashioned common sense.
