Marjorie A. Tyler; Bookkeeper, 31-Year Resident
Marjorie A. Tyler, a 31-year county resident who loved watching her grandsons play Pop Warner football, died Sunday after a long illness. She was 57.
Tyler was born Nov. 8, 1939, in Monroe, Mich. Her family moved to Santa Barbara when she was a child, and she moved to Ventura when she was in her 20s.
She worked as a bookkeeper at various companies for more than 30 years.
Several years ago, she moved to Oxnard to live with her daughter, Sherrie Heffernan.
Tyler was an avid reader and politically savvy, said her son, Marty Ebright of Ventura.
“She had a very good sense of humor and she was very active, going out to dinner and the theater,†he said.
In addition to Heffernan and Ebright, Tyler is survived by daughter Karen Gross of Ventura; her parents, Ben and Irene Gomez of Ventura; a sister, Diane Gomez of Ventura; two brothers, Alan Gomez and Robert Mitchell of Ventura, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura, with Msgr. Patrick O’Brien officiating. A private burial will follow.
