Construction Begins on Day-Care Center
GARDEN GROVE — With the turn of a shovel, construction began Monday on the new Acacia Adult Day Services center at Acacia Parkway and 7th Street.
The 5,000-square-foot facility, to be completed by September, will enable the center to provide day-care services to 50 frail elderly clients. About 40 clients are now served by the center.
Acacia Adult Day Services has been using the United Methodist Church of Garden Grove as its center for the past 17 years. The Acacia Parkway site will be the center’s first a permanent facility.
“Thanks to the support of the city of Garden Grove, our board of directors, and the campaign and building committees, the dream of a larger center dedicated for frail and disabled adults in our community is now a reality,†said Mallory Vega, executive director.
The new center will include activity and therapy rooms, offices, a conference room, patio and garden area.
Acacia Adult Day Services provides care for clients living in Anaheim, Garden Grove, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Cypress, Stanton, Westminster and Midway City.
