TV Parade of the Edsels

So the TV networks are cutting their movie for television nights in half (“TV Movies: Screen Is Shrinking,” May 31). About time! The producers of these movies are now in a panic because it seems the American public have finally grown tired of being subjected to their loathsome, mindless, exploitative drivel.
I take issue with the notion put forth that cutting back on the quantity of these movies will improve the quality. The networks and their long-form producers have been cranking out Edsels for years now. Do we really expect them to suddenly start rolling out Ferraris?
Frankly, the networks themselves and the majority of the made-for-TV-movie producers have taken a once proud segment of the television landscape and turned it into a cesspool so their squawking garners little sympathy. Sorry, fellas, the chickens have come home to roost. Now, if we could only get rid of that remaining movie night.
